London Fashion Week SS18 has celebrated a grand finale on Tuesday, with the Tommy Hilfiger London Fashion Week celebrity-studded TommyNow show at London’s Roundhouse and a celebration for the emerging designers in Soho.
The last day of LFW SS18 was a mixture of parties, shows and presentations. Starting with the official LFW shows for early birds such as the Ukrainian Natasha Zinko and British Amanda Wakeley at the 180 Strand. LFW took us to the National Portrait Gallery in the afternoon for a majestic presentation by the eponymous Georgian designers Tata Naka (Tamara and Natasha Surguladze).
Inspired by the ‘American Sportswear’ pioneer Claire McCardell who revolutionised women’s fashion in America in the 40’s and 50’s, the SS18 collection featured collages of vintage florals and stripes in blossom, lemongrass, sage, aubergine and saffron shades.
A real beauty of the presentation was the setting – National Portrait Gallery that made the on-site photoshoot-presentation quite literally picture perfect. A truly clever way of presenting a collection and making sure that all photos are orchestrated to perfection.
The last show of the season was the third show this season by the eponymous American designer Tommy Hilfiger overtaking North London’s Roundhouse. With his See Now by Now model, Tommy presented a TommyNow Rock Circus which you can still watch on the website and buy directly from the video stream.
A real buzz was about the British VIP audience, including Lewis Hamilton and Sir Philip Green, adorned by the American celebrities, including the superstar model Gigi Hadid, who also collaborated on the capsule collection for the second season, presented to the audience last night.
If North London was overshone by the American fashion stars, a closing party in Soho was celebrating the rising stars. A fashion event by the Curated Crowd, a newly launched crowdfunding platform for the emerging fashion designers, was a hit with fashion models, bloggers and those looking for the ‘fresh blood’ on the catwalks. Rumour has it, every party is a success if the guests leave before the drinks have dried. We call it a hit!
