It’s been just a couple of years since the rise of the now eponymous Russian lux streetwear designer Gosha Rubchinskiy and his iconic friend-stylist Lotta Volkova, the Russian fashion crowd has completely transformed since.
The Street style at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia SS18 of Millenial Russians is full of vintage Gucci, not so vintage Vetements, striped leisurewear paired with patent leather glossy boots and puffy winter parkas as opposed to the real-fur coats, favoured by the Russian elite for decades.
The devil is in detail they say, well, the Russian FW crowd has nailed it too. Epic socks’n’sandals (but sandals are Gucci) socks’n’boots, socks’n’heels combinations, perfectly matched or perfectly mismatched purses, fanny packs and backpacks – the accessorizing sector has hit the heights of the liberal and outspoken.
It’s fascinating to observe the changing fashion crowd in the Russian capital – young, rebellious and very much trend driven. The Millennial Russians have been clearly influenced by the nonchalant styles of Gosha Rubchinsliy, Vetements and their successors.
