Polish fashion designers Szymon Mrózek and Marta Pospieszna, designers of the Diligent brand, together with the fashion photographer Jan Kriwol created a fashion campaign that once again justifies the launch of Vogue Polska at the dawn of the evergrowing fashion scene in Poland.
Langusta Lips by Diligent is a fashion campaign promoting Fresh Fashion Awards, a local design competition that Diligent designers won last year. The innovative fashion campaign, using Diligent clothes from their latest Langusta Lips collection, special edition Adidas sneakers and a huge bucket of creativity from photographer Jan Kriwol, came just on time. While the art world is getting crazy about the American drama The Shape of Water, Polish fashion creatives explore the world using water and movement as a means to distort the image. The Shape of Water with 13 Oscar nominations and four awards, including the Best Picture, and Langusta Lips are both exploring the role of water (directly and indirectly), as Langusta Lips becomes a trendsetting visual concept riding the global wave of curiosity towards humanised water creatures.
“The concept of the photos that we have developed together with the whole team alludes to the creation of the illusion with which the recipient collides. We see models that we submerge under the water turned into modified silhouettes that allow us to see the distortion of the image caused by human gaze”, says Jan Kriwol.
The Langusta Lips collection has a dual meaning. Directly, it refers to the shape of the crawfish, its extensive body, and the colour palette – orange, peach, or beige. Metaphorically, the distortion of the body and facial features serves as the cover of the one’s inner world.
Langusta Lips was created in cooperation with other Polish fashion creatives. A contemporary artist Alicja Biał set the tone for the collection while designer Zulu Kukim created a limited edition collection for Adidas corresponding to the Diligent vision.
